4-Morpholineethanesulfonic acid

MES buffer has buffering ability within the pH range of 5.5 to 6.7. This buffer solution has a wide range of applications and can be used to maintain environmental stability in cell culture media, protein based buffer formulations, and electrophoresis buffers. It is also a good choice for capillary electrochromatography, with very low ion mobility. Importantly, it can serve as a safer alternative to toxic reagents such as dimethylarsinate and non zwitterionic buffers (such as citrate and malate).
